S. Rob Sobhani for Senate

S. Rob Sobhani is running for the U.S Senate as an unaffiliated candidate. He is the author of 3 published books and has a Ph.D. in Political Economy. Sobhani was a Maryland candidate for the U.S Senate in 2000.

Sobhani believes that America lacks a consistent leadership, and that that is our greatest challenge. He believes in peace through strength, free and fair trade, and multi-lateralism based on American leaderships. Sobhani wants to enforce the current immigration law. He thinks that immigration threatens to destroy the American middle class. He supports requiring illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship.

For healthcare, Sobhani wants to make Maryland number one. His plans are to invest $500 million in Maryland healthcare facilities and hospitals to make Maryland the world’s capital for cancer and Alzheimer’s research and treatment. He want this because it will save lives and expand Maryland’s economy.

Rob Sobhani has 5 goals to get Maryland’s economy moving forward and to create new jobs. These goals deal with roads and bridges, healthcare, housing, education, and new businesses. The transportation plan will get 105,000 new jobs. The export initiative for small businesses will create 5,000 jobs. The internship plan will create 15,000 job opportunities for disadvantaged high school seniors.  If he fails to deliver these programs, he will not run for another term in the Senate.

On the budget issue, Sobhani thinks that it is wrong for government to continue spending more than they take in. Sobhani supports reducing defense spending in order to balance the budget and cutting programs that aren’t working, but leaving a “safety net” for people who need them. Sobhani believes that individuals, as well as the government,  need to work within our budget.
