Mitt Romney is the Republican candidate for the 2012 Presidential Election. He graduated from Brigham Young and Harvard Universities, with degrees in law and business administration. He has extensive business experience, having served as vice-president of Bain & Company (a business management consulting firm) and later as CEO of Bain Capital (a private equity firm). He served as Governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007. Throughout his life, he has been active in his church, being a Mormon. And he has a plan for America.
Romney
has a five-point plan to turn around the economy and restore jobs. First, he
wants to utilize our amazing natural resources and achieve North American
energy independence by 2020, so we will no longer be so reliant on foreign oil.
Second, he wants to get tougher on countries like China and make trade work for
the United States so our products can compete with foreign made goods. Third,
he wants to make higher education more available and more affordable so
Americans can get the skills and training they need for advanced jobs. Fourth,
he wants to control the deficit and cut it by reducing the size of government
and altering the current tax code. Specifically, he wants to reduce tax rates
across the board (except for the very highest incomes) so people and businesses
pay less, but then eliminate loopholes so revenue is still raised. Fifth, he
wants to champion small business. By making taxes and regulation work for small
business (who are the greatest job creators in the U.S.), small business can be
more successful and hire more workers, reducing unemployment.
His
stance on foreign policy is simple. He wants a militarily strong U.S. to lead
with clarity – so our allies and enemies know what we stand for and what we
will do to protect our interests and theirs. He will not cut defense spending,
as he believes we need the strongest military in the world. Furthermore, he
wants to get tough on countries like China and Iran – specifically, he will not
allow Iran to possess a nuclear weapon, even if it means military intervention.
Healthcare
is a major issue this election, and Romney has a solution to the issue. He
states that if elected, on his first day in office he will issue the executive
order that paves the way for Obamacare to be repealed. He thinks that
healthcare should be in the hands of the states – so they may design and
implement programs that work in their state. The role of government under this
system would simply be to make sure the playing field is even.
These
are Mitt Romney’s plans. In all issues, Romney believes in America.
