Gaming Expansion for Education


Maryland’s proposed gaming expansion plan expands commercial gaming in the State of Maryland for raising money for education.
Authorize video lottery operation licenses to operate “table games” to increase from 15,000 to 16,500: the maximum number of video lottery terminals that may be operated in the State. Increase the number of video lottery operation licenses that may be awarded in the state to increase from 5 to a maximum of 6. A new casino in Prince George’s County is also on the referendum.
Propose
·         With a casino more than 1 billion dollars in Maryland money would be spent in West Virginia.
·         State revenues would increase by $60.5 million per year.
·         $200 million in tax revenues to the state’s Education Trust Fund.
·         Additional grant money to local jurisdictions
