Democratic Challenger John Delany Believes in the 6th District

John Delaney is the son of a union electrician.  Since graduating from Columbia University and Georgetown Law School, he has been devoted to building businesses, creating jobs and leading the way in non-profit community improvement projects.  John believes that the government has an important role to play in ensuring that individuals get the training they need to innovate.  He believes that the benefits of a healthy economy are shared among all Americans including labor, reduce the gap between the rich and the poor and help rebuild the middle class.  Part of a healthy economy is a government focus on the energy sector, protecting vital social programs by balancing the budget with a spending cuts and revenue enhancements and investing in important transportation and communication infrastructure.  John supports the Dream Act and believes government should promote small business growth and encourage community banks to lend to small business.  John believes in the federal government prioritizing grants to promote “green energy” jobs and reduce the U.S. dependence on fossil fuels.  Mr. Delaney supports the Affordable Care Act and believes that digitizing medical records can save billions of dollars in the health care industry.  Finally, John support supporting an increase in Pell Grants to make access to higher education and technical training affordable.   He supports incentives to attract top college students into the teaching profession, real evaluations, balanced testing of students and an increase in the emphasis on the development of “soft skills” (interview skills, communication and public speaking skills) in young people entering the workforce.
