In-state Tuition for Undocumented Immigrants

Tuition Rates

This referendum will allow individuals, including illegal immigrants, to qualify for in-state tuition rates at community colleges in Maryland, as long as the individual meets several requirements. Among these are attendance and graduation from a Maryland high school, filing of income taxes, and registering with the selective service system (if required). Also they must have the intention of becoming a citizen. This allows these individuals to qualify for in-state tuition rates at public colleges and universities as long as they have completed 60 credit hours or graduated from a Maryland community college. Students who are allowed to get in-state tuition rates this way are not counted as in-state students for things like counting undergraduate enrollment. Honorably discharged veterans will have more time to qualify for these rates. It is up to the people whether or not this law is approved.
