Dean Ahmad, Libertarian for Senate

Imad Aldean “Dean” Ahmad, Ph. D., is the Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate or 2012. He is the president of the Islamic libertarian think-tank and a chaplain at American University. Along with these responsibilities, he is also president of Maryland-based charitable organization. Dean has been a Libertarian Party activist since 1975 and managed Steve Ziegler’s successful Libertarian campaign along with four others. He’s also known for being an internationally sought-after speaker and he has authored many current event articles.

Dean thinks that he can help cut our federal budget in half in one year and achieve the idea of a balanced budget within two years. He then would make an aggressive effort to reduce the deficit. Dean does not support putting an income tax on any tax bracket. He is, although, a strong supporter in making balancing the budget a priority and also, he supports reducing defense spending.

When it comes to the economy, Dean isn’t a supporter of federal spending as a way of promoting economic growth or providing tax incentives to businesses to create jobs. He also doesn’t support the temporary extension of unemployment benefits, but he did support the 2010 temporary extension of tax relief.

It was not recorded if he has a strong position on health care, but it did show a few of his thoughts. He does support the repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act. The 2010 Affordable Care Act states that individuals should be required to purchase health insurance.

Dean strongly supports the position on National Security. He thinks we should try to eliminate all nuclear weapons from the face of the earth and to first reduce all of the United States’ to set an example of moral leadership. He is not a supporter of targeting suspected terrorists outside of official theatres of conflict or the U.S. using military force to prevent Iran from having a nuclear weapon.
