Libertarian Candidate for President Gary Johnson

Gary Johnson is the presidential candidate for the libertarian party, and has chosen James P. Gray to be his vice president. He is the current Governor of New Mexico, and James P. Gary was the Orange County Superior Court Judge and before that he was the Santa Ana, California Municipal Court Judge. His plans for the economy include cutting about 43% of federal spending to balance the budget. Governor Johnson would cut the federal funding of programs such as unnecessary farm subsidies and the military, and he would not support any bailout or stimulus bills. He does not believe the government should stimulate the economy and that government’s influence on the economy should be extremely limited.

Gary Johnson believes that it “is important to have a strong defense both at home and abroad” and that our military should remain strong and be the strongest on the earth. Although he is for a very strong military force, he believes that our economy at the moment calls for a cut in the money giving to the military, by at least 43%. Johnson also believes that we should cut lessen the presence of our military in foreign nations, such as European countries and in Japan and South Korea. Along with this he would propose a cut to military research and development as well as cutting the amount of nuclear weapons owned by the U.S.

Besides the topic of foreign affairs, Governor Johnson is not a supporter of the governmental control of healthcare. He believes that it should be a part of the free market system that we have here in the U.S. If he would be elected, Johnson would severely limit the governmental influence on the market surrounding healthcare, giving it back to the business owning individuals.
